It’s a bizarre feeling to wake up into a dream. I’ve experienced this every day when my alarm sounds since I’ve gotten to USC. Even though I’ve been fantasizing about going here since the ninth grade, I never considered the idea that I’d actually be attending one day.
Although I still get lost most days on my way to class, so far, my experience has been incredible. I love my dorm room, the food, my new friends, my major, my school, and especially my new little ol’ hometown of Los Angeles, California. One of the best things to do so far is take the 30 minute metro down to Santa Monica, grab something greasy to eat (yes, I’m completely embracing the freshman 15), and watch the sunset over the pier.
Best of all, I’ve learned so much about animation in just a few weeks. The questions that I’ve tangled with for years were answered in a matter of minutes during my first intro to animation class. In just a few short weeks I’ve been exposed to different programs, software, and hardware, that I had no idea existed a month ago. Many of the tools that I would call “thingy” or “that” now have proper names and the idea of animating in something other than Dragonframe is not a completely daunting task. It’s been indescribably amazing; I can’t wait to see what I learn next!
